This loyal dog has spent two months at their front gate and waiting for the sick owner to come home

Marco Maiolani is a 55-year-old resident of Lombardy and he is the owner of a loyal dog.  He was hospitalized because of a deadly disease called coronavirus last November 2020. While he is being confined in hospital his dog named Billy refused to move from a spot outside his home in Italy.

Billy waited two months for his owner to come home. Every morning  He stays at their front gate with his favorite blanket and pillow and in the evening he will go back inside the house and wants to sleep curled in Maco’s t-shirt.

Marco is a volunteer of the Civil Protection – a national emergency service – and lives alone with his beloved pet.

The two have been inseparable for more than two years.

Marco said: “It was he who chose me. He immediately met me as if we had always known each other.

“I really miss him. It is a priceless and irreplaceable company.”

After testing positive for COVID-19, Marco immediately tried to be treated at home. But his health deteriorated and he was taken to the intensive care unit. Marco fought for his life for two months and only recently went on the mend.

There are times that the dog is desperate and it begins to howl loudly to call his owner. That’s why Marco’s relatives console the dog.

Billy knows everything that is happening to his owner. And it feels like he wanted to see Marco so bad just to know if he’s in a good condition.

Dog’s love and loyalty to their owners are so pure.
