Gorilla Went Viral After Its Adorable Selfie, Dies in the Arms of Her Humɑn Rescuer

The Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo, they are dedicated to protecting local wildlife and monitoring the population of endangered mountain gorillas who are threatened by illegal poaching.

The rescuers saw a heartbreaking scene when they saw a baby gorilla hanging from the lifeless body of her mother who had been shot by an armed militia.

They quickly brought the baby gorilla to the Virunga National Park with the help of a ranger named Andrea Bauma who keeps the baby gorilla’s body tightly to her chest so it can feel warm and comfortable.

They named the orphaned gorilla Ndakasi and it now has a happy life at the park living with her fellow orphan named Ndeze while having a close friendship with their loving caretakers.

When the park posted photos of the two gorillas’ selfies with their friend named Mathieu Shamavu with a causal pose, it went viral and the people who saw the photos can’t believe that it was real.

“Those gorilla gals are always acting cheeky so this was the perfect shot of their true personalities!” the park wrote on Instagram.

The two gorillas are so close to their caretakers who make them feel happy and loved.

On September 26, there was sad news because Ndasaki passed away from a prolonged illness. The gorilla didn’t die alone because she was in the arms of her friend loving Andrea.

“It was a privilege to support and care for such a loving creature, especially knowing the trauma Ndakasi suffered at a very young age. It was Ndakasi’s sweet nature and intelligence that helped me to understand the connection between humans and Great Apes and why we should do everything in our power to protect them. I am proud to have called Ndakasi my friend. I loved her like a child and her cheerful personality brought a smile to my face every time I interacted with her.” Andrea said

They will always remember Ndakasi with the selfie that made her famous, it also helps to spread love and positive message about the other gorillas and their loving caretakers.

Rest in paradise adorable Ndakasi, you will be always in everyone’s heart, especially to those people who love you so much.
